CIP RC/PT Girder Help

Project Tab

The Project tab allows you to enter general information about the project and select the analysis options, design specifications, units, and loss type. You can return to this tab at any time and make changes. Note that changing the settings while working on a project may cause your project to be reset, thus causing you to lose your current analysis results. Also, converting some loads from LFRD to LFD or vice-versa may potentially cause you to lose load information.

In the LRFD mode, California State Specification may be selected. Refer to Caltrans Amendments v3.06.01 for details regarding the revisions to the various LRFD articles and additional Caltrans requirements.

Defining Project Information

Define the project by entering general information such as project name, number, state, job number, and a general description. This information is for reference only and does not affect calculations or the results.

Selecting the Analysis

By default, CIP RC/PT Girder analyzes the Full Width of the bridge, which is based upon the aggregate properties of the entire bridge cross-section along the bridge centerline. Selecting Optional Girder Analysis allows you to optionally analyze the structure based upon the properties defined along the centerlines of individual girders. Enter the number of girders to be analyzed in the Number of Girders field. Choosing Slab (or a T-Beam) Bridge simplifies the data entry for a rectangular cross-section and performs a full width analysis.

Selecting the Design Specifications

Determine the project's design specifications by choosing either the AASHTO Standard (LFD) specifications or the AASHTO LRFD specifications . The design setting you select also appears at the bottom right of the screen in the status bar.

Selecting Measurement Units

Determine the project's measurement units by choosing either the U.S. system or the metric (SI) system. The unit setting you select also appears at the bottom right of the screen in the status bar.

Note: If you return to the Project tab or use the status bar to change units, all tabs and dialog boxes in this program automatically convert values and update the units.

Selecting the Loss Type

Determine the project's loss type by selecting one of the following options. The loss type setting you select also appears at the bottom right of the screen in the status bar.

ACI-209R-92: Use this code's material Creep, Shrinkage, and Relaxation time-dependent properties.
CEB-FIB-90: Use this code's material Creep, Shrinkage, and Relaxation time-dependent properties.
LRFD: Use this code's material Creep, Shrinkage, and Relaxation time-dependent properties.
Lump-Sum: Select to specify a fixed value for the lumped sum total loss for a tendon.

Setting Options

Select Program Defaults or specify a settings file for User Defaults for various program options. The User Defaults can also be saved for later use.

  • Settings file extension key:

*.st1 for AASHTO Standard option, *.st2 for AASHTO LRFD-None option, and *.st3 for AASHTO LRFD-California option.
